KANSAS CITY, MO - Police said a collision in Kansas City Wednesday night sent a young bicycle rider to the hospital.

According to the Kansas City Star, the bicyclist was a juvenile who crashed head-on with a car in the area of Northeast Compton Avenue and North Bellaire Avenue at about 7 p.m.

Investigators said the driver of a Honda Accord was rounding a blind curve at the intersection and hit the bicyclist, who was riding east in the westbound lanes of Northeast Compton Avenue.  The rider was ejected from the bicycle, hit the car and then fell to the ground.  The boy was seriously injured and was transported to an area hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
