KANSAS CITY, MO - A man was seriously injured after his vehicle careened into a parked car on I-70 near Grain Valley this afternoon.

According to a report by the MSHP, the 51-year-old driver of a Nissan Titan fell asleep behind the wheel in the eastbound lanes of I-70 west of US-40 and slammed into a vehicle that was parked on the shoulder.

The driver of the Nissan was taken to Centerpoint Hospital in serious condition. Police say he was not wearing a seatbelt when the incident occurred.

Fortunately, no one was inside the parked vehicle when it was hit.
