CLAY COUNTY, MO - A suspected drunk driver was in custody following an accident in Clay County that injured a motorcyclist, KCTV reported.

The accident occurred Sunday evening on Litton Way near DD Highway near Smithville Lake.  According to the Clay County Sheriff's Office, a Chevrolet Cruze collided with a Harley Davidson motorcycle at about 7:40 p.m.

The 34-year-old man driving the motorcycle suffered injuries that were life-threatening and was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.  He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, the sheriff's office said.

Authorities said the driver of the car was in custody on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
