MERCER CO., MO - A multi-vehicle crash in Mercer County left one man dead and another seriously injured on Monday evening.

According to a report by KCHI,The crash took place at about 5:40 p.m. as 64-year-old Gary Sexton was heading north on US-65 near the town of Mercer.

Investigators believe Sexton's vehicle crossed into the oncoming lane for unknown reasons and slammed into an oncoming vehicle that was pulling a trailer. 

Sexton was pronounced dead at the crash site. The driver of the second vehicle, 71-year-old Merlin Hall, of Iowa, was hospitalized in serious condition.
