CASS COUNTY, MO - Authorities have announced an arrest in a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred Saturday morning in Cass County.
According to KCTV, a construction worker was struck by a Ford F-150 headed northbound on I-49 at about 1:30 a.m. The worker, a 35-year-old Kansas City man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the driver involved fled the scene on foot after the crash. The driver, a 24-year-old Independence man, was arrested on Saturday evening. He is facing multiple charges, including felony leaving scene of a motor vehicle accident, felony driving while intoxicated, and endangerment of a highway worker.
