KANSAS CITY, MO - Police said a driver left the scene after hitting and killing a bicyclist in Kansas City on Saturday morning.

According to the Kansas City Star, the incident happened near the Longview campus of the Metropolitan Community College at about 6:17 a.m.

Investigators said a car and a bicyclist were both headed south on View High Drive near Longview Road when the man on the bicycle was struck by the car.  The driver kept going without stopping to help, according to police.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  He was reported to have been a teacher in the Kansas City area and a father of ten children.

Police have not yet issued a description of the vehicle they are looking for.
