KANSAS CITY, MO - Police said a pedestrian was struck and killed on a Kansas City highway early Friday morning.

According to a report by WDAF, a passenger in a Kia Sorrento became sick while the vehicle was on eastbound Interstate 70 shortly after 3 a.m. When the driver pulled over near Interstate 435, the passenger opened the window and climbed out.

As the man stood in the roadway, police say he was struck by at least two vehicles, one of which stopped.  But the other driver left the scene.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.  A stretch of I-70 was shut down following the incident before reopening later in the morning.
