KANSAS CITY, MO - A crash on U.S. 71 in Kansas City on Sunday night claimed the life of a motorcyclist, KSHB reports.

Police said it happened when the driver of a northbound Pontiac Vibe changed lanes in the area of Red Bridge Road at about 7:22 p.m. and entered the path of a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

The motorcycle hit the car and then went off the roadway before crashing into an exit sign and ending up in a median.  The motorcycle rider was pronounced dead several hours later after being rushed to an area hospital.

The driver of the Pontiac was not injured.  The accident remains under investigation.
