KANSAS CITY, MO - Police in Kansas City responded to a fatal pedestrian accident at a shopping area on Tuesday afternoon.

According to a report by KSHB, a woman was attempting to cross a road at the Zona Rosa shopping center off Northwest Prairie Road when the incident happened.  According to investigators, the driver of a Kenworth dump truck was making a left turn and struck the victim.  The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The dump truck driver, who remained at the scene, said he did not see the woman and cooperated with investigators.  He did not show signs of impairment, Kansas City police said.

Several streets around the area were shut down for the accident investigation, which is ongoing.
