KANSAS CITY, MO - A 40-year-old man was injured in Kansas City after being hit by a car on Monday night, KSHB reports. 


The incident occurred on Independence Avenue shortly before midnight. The victim was attempting to cross the road when he was struck by a westbound Honda sedan. 


The man was taken to the hospital in serious condition but his injuries are not expected to be life-threatening. 


After briefly stopping, the driver of the Honda fled the scene. Police believe they found the suspect, a 28-year-old woman, later in the night after she was involved in another accident on I-35. She is currently being investigated for impairment.
