KANSAS CITY, MO - A man riding a scooter was critically injured in a collision with a minivan in Kansas City, police said.

KCTV reports the incident took place Saturday night on Red Bridge Road near Holmes Road at about 10:12 p.m. According to police, the driver of a westbound Dodge Caravan was trying to turn left into a shopping center.  As the vehicle turned, it was hit by an eastbound PGO scooter traveling at a high rate of speed.

The man on the scooter was ejected and hit the hood and windshield of the Dodge before falling to the ground.  The scooter rider was hospitalized with critical injuries, and was later listed in stable condition.  The driver of the Dodge was not injured. 

Kansas City police are investigating the cause of the accident.
