LEE'S SUMMIT, MO - The Missouri State Highway Patrol said a driver was killed in a semi-truck accident near Lee's Summit on Wednesday morning.

In its crash report, the MSHP said the driver of a 2009 Peterbilt 365 was headed west on Interstate 470 when the incident occurred at about 8:30 a.m.  Troopers said the truck experienced a tire blowout and the vehicle went off the right side of the highway, overturned, and struck multiple trees.

The driver, a 25-year-old man from Lee's Summit, was transported to Research Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. 

The MSHP was assisted at the scene by the Lee's Summit Police Department.
