KANSAS CITY, MO - A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle in Kansas City early Monday morning.

According to the Kansas City Star, the accident occurred on East Front Street where spectators had gathered to watch what police said was an illegal sideshow.  As two vehicles were doing donuts in the parking lot, one of the vehicles struck and ran over one of the spectators.

The pedestrian died later after being rushed to an area hospital.  The driver of the vehicle that hit the pedestrian, a Dodge Charge, initially left the scene.  Police said the driver later returned, spoke with officers, and was taken into custody.  The identities of the driver and the pedestrian were not immediately released.
