KANSAS CITY, MO - One person was injured in a three-vehicle crash on I-470 on Wednesday evening, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred around 5:25 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the interstate near Woods Chapel Road.

Troopers say 70-year-old man driving a 2016 Kenworth rear-ended a 2014 Ford Explorer driven by a 40-year-old woman. The impact of the initial collision then caused the Explorer to strike a third vehicle, a 2020 Honda Ridgeline driven by a 57-year-old man.

The woman driving the Explorer suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. Her vehicle sustained extensive damage and was towed away.

The other two drivers were uninjured. At this time authorities have not indicated whether they believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
