KANSAS CITY, MO - Two people were injured, one critically, in an accident on East 39th Street on Sunday morning, KSHB reports.


The accident occurred around 3 a.m. at the intersection of East 39th and Bruce R. Watkins Drive . 


A white Cadillac Escalade was travelling on Watkins Drive when it ran a red light at East 39th. In the intersection it collided with a silver Ford Focus travelling east.


Both vehicles were flipped over on their sides. Four men climbed out of the Escalade and fled the scene on foot. 


The Focus had six occupants, two of whom suffered injuries. A woman in the front passenger seat sustained serious injuries and a man in the back seat was critically injured. 


Police are investigating the driver of the Focus to determine if he was driving under the influence.
