JOHNSON COUNTY, MO - Two people were injured on Monday morning following a crash in Johnson County, the MSHP reports. 


The accident occurred shortly after 9 a.m. on the Blackwater River bypass of MO-13. The victims were traveling south in a 2002 Ford when the driver, a 76-year-old man, lost control attempting to pass another vehicle. 


The victims’ Ford then struck another vehicle and a guardrail before flipping over. The passenger, a 72-year-old woman, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Western Missouri Medical Center. The driver suffered minor injuries and was not hospitalized. 


No injuries were reported from the other vehicle involved. At this time it is not clear what caused the driver to lose control.
