ATCHISON, KS - A serious head-on collision in Atchison resulted in two deaths and three injuries on Wednesday night, KMBC reports. 


The accident happened at mile marker 49.1 on US 73 around 9 p.m. 


The crash was caused by a 2005 Toyota Camry that crossed the center line as it traveled south. The Camry then collided head-on with a northbound 2002 Toyota Corolla. 


The driver and adult passenger in the Corolla were both killed.


Two young boys, aged 6 and 7, were riding in the Corolla were injured. The 37-year-old man driving the Camry also sustained serious injuries. 


Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
