BATES COUNTY, MO - A woman and a teenager were injured when their pickup truck crashed in Bates County Thursday afternoon, state troopers said.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol's accident log, the accident took place on Interstate 49 northbound at mile marker 123.8 north of Rich Hill shortly before 5 p.m.
The MSHP said a 44-year-old woman was driving a Chevrolet Silverado when she tried to change lanes on uneven lanes. The driver, a resident of Beebe, Arkansas, overcorrected and then drove off the left side of the roadway. The pickup returned to the road, spun out, struck a guardrail and overturned.
A 13-year-old female passenger from Belton, Missouri was serously injured and transported by Life Flight to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. The driver sustained minor injuries and said she would seek her own medical treatment.
