KANSAS CITY, MO - Police said a driver trying to elude officers crashed in Kansas City Friday night, leaving one person critically injured.
According to KHSB, the driver of a white Fiat 500 was reported to have fled from the area of 11th Street and Grand Boulevard at high speed after nearly hitting a pedestrian.
When police attempted to pull the Fiat over for a traffic stop, the driver kept going. Officers initiated a pursuit but it was halted in the vicinity of Charlotte Street and 13th Street.
Police said the driver continued onto Interstate 70 going in the wrong direction, and then crashed into a Toyota Solara before hitting a guardrail.
A passenger in the Fiat suffered critical injuries and was taken to an area hospital. The driver of the Fiat sustained injuries that were not life-threatening. Investigators believe that the Fiat driver may have been impaired at the time of the incident.
